Some Keto Diet Insides
The last days, I often came across the question, what diet I follow, since most people know me a Vegetarian (that changed a bit since I got pregnant, but before I was even Vegan)... As you could read already on my Instagram account, I am not a big protein animal and love high carbs food, which is kind of normal, if you like to eat vegetarian food. So why Keto and how does it work? I can say with a good feeling that I tried every diet which is out there, beside the ones with fish (strong fish allergy) and that since the age of 15. I tried even diets which made me very ill.... But that story, I will share another time. I tried so many diets that it even became my job, but that is again another story š So even I love to eat carbs, believe me, I really do, I had to learn that they are not good for me. One of the reasons why, I also not really lost weight during the last years, even I tried it several times, really I did! One day, I somehow came again across the Keto diet which asks you to stick to a high fat, low carb schedule. I did already earlier Atkins, but not really like it, but the system was therefore not completely new to me. So I thought, let's try it again...things can not get worse, right?

So there you go! I started to follow I high fat, low carb diet. My daily macros include 170g fat, 80g protein and 20g Carbs. Which means that the first week I survived on Greek yoghurts, cheese and filet steaks from the grill. To be fair, it was really hard and no fun at all.... Everyone was laughing and telling me you will not do that in a long run, you do not like to eat like this... And that was right , but today, I figured out my rhythm... I eat more balanced and I even found low carbs bread which I really like! Not the crap one which is artificially full of high fiber to get low Net Carbs. It is maybe not the diet for everyone, as it asked you to make quite some changes, but it works, it really does! Today, I am really happy with it and yes, I do miss my carbs, but I found ways to replace them. And to be fair, the results speak for itself.
My health improved so much, that just this point alone would justify to stick to a Keto diet. Will I eat the rest of my life like this? Not sure, but this question is so far away for me at this point in time, as I still have to lose another 49 pounds. And once I am at the point of maintaining, I will write another guide about this, but that will come to a later point int time. First I have to make my target now!
A Keto diet is quite simply any diet that forces the body into a process called Ketosis, whereby fats are burned instead of carbohydrates for use as energy. A proper Keto diet calls for the dieter to consume high amounts of fat, adequate amounts of protein, and very low amounts of carbohydrates. Our bodies are used to turning carbohydrates into glucose to send all over the body as energy. When we enter Ketosis by sufficiently limiting our carbohydrate intake, our livers start breaking down fat cells into fatty acids and Ketones, to be used as energy. Therefore a perfect way to burn directly your body fat. Other kwon facts are:
Reduced appetite
Continuous weight loss
Helps to reduce the risk of heart diseases
Increased the level of good fats (HDL)
Reduces Blood sugar and Insulin (therapeutic way of eating of diabetic ill people)
Reduces Heart Pressure
Helps to improve Metabolic Symptoms
Used a therapeutic diet for Cancer & Brain Disorder
